G300S New Vs G102/203 Lightsync.
Guys Let me tell you first that I am decently shocked.
(YOU CAN SKIP TO PART 2 IF YOU JUST WANT THE COMPARISON REVIEW)
1). Let me give you guys a little context. I was an original G300 user. That thing was the only decent budget option in my country at the time of launch. A lot has changed within this few years. Numbers of competitive games have increased so has the mouse options. Considering all reviews and my own judgment I switched to G102 exactly 2 years 1 months ago after my G300 went haywire after years of abuse. I game a lot. Like 2-3 Hours each day. Currently CS GO, Fortnite and GTA:Online. I just threw away my G102 last week, smashing it to pieces. Don’t misunderstand, the mouse is great, the sensor, design, software price etc.. very okay,.....What is not OKAY is the durability. With each day 2 hours of gaming I had to replace it 4 times in service centre within warranty, and each time I received a brand new sealed product. No, I don’t abuse my mouse like I did in the past week. I did because it started to double click again and this time in just 3 months and now without any warranty left, so I can’t replace. Every time I check the price on that mouse has decreased so has the durability. Now I am lucky that the service centre is 15 mins ride from my home, but not everyone is and that must really suck. At least the service centre people are really decent and behave with courtesy. As a new mouse I gave a thought about the G102 Lightsync, as I heard somewhere that it has better cables, rgb and durability. All these is a hoax. My childhood friend who is practicing medicine in hong kong tried it out. (We game together on cs go sometimes). His opinion compared to Old G102 the New one has better RGB, better color coating, same sensor, same feet, worse cables, worse buttons, which are bound to double click. No improvement at all in double clicking. So that’s the reason I had to downgrade to G300S , or so I thought ,,, 😍
2). CONTENDERS New G300s with new LOGO =. Slightly Better G-buttons. Slightly better PTFE feet, much better sensor than the old G300S.
New G102/203 Lightsync.= Better RGB, Better color coating, Same feet, same sensor, worse and thinner cables than the older g102 prodigy.
BUILD= g102 LS WINS (Light Sync) G300s is a bit plasticky. So is g102, but the body feels better.
BUTTONS= No question G300s. Omrons or not, Every button on G300s is as useful and tack-tile. The buttons definitely has uses. More is definitely not better, but the G300S buttons are in very good place, that will take very less time to getting used to. Definitely better than having thumb buttons on both side of the mouse. The left and right buttons clicks are as good as G102. They have right Mount of crispness.
SCROLL= G102 Wins. It has one of the best scrolls, I have ever seen in this budget, and G300s one of the worst. It doesn’t bother me at all, but it might be a huge deal for someone.
FEET = G300s. Any day everyday.. It has got PTFE feets, and better much better than slightly rubbery feeling G102 feet. It glides better, and makes up for the low DPI.
WIRE = G102. Even if it has low quality wire, it isn’t as stiff as G300S. However G300s wires aren’t bad at all, and doesn’t effect the mouse movement.
ERGONOMICS = It is subjective, but definitely G300s for me. The shape is decade old, and Logitech is still manufacturing it because it works for many many people. It has better rubber grips, which makes the G102 look naked. The hour glass figure of G300s looks much more game type than simplistic G102. I definitely prefer claw gripping it over G102. Now remember, if you have large hands, both are gonna be uncomfortable. I have medium hands, and I find G102 worse because, in intense battles, it will slip away. G300s with great quality rubber grips and shape helps a lot. People with small hands will definitely find both of these comfy.
SOFTWARE = G300S WINS.. In G300S Website it says it supports G-Hub. But it doesn’t. It only works with Logitech gaming software. The SoC on new G300s is the same as the old g300s which doesn’t support firmware update. That’s the only conclusion I could find as to why it doesn’t work with Ghub. G102 supports Ghub. It doesn’t bother me much because, Logitech gaming software is excellent. If we rank, Ghub as no. 1 mouse software, LGS will still be 2nd and better than any other brand software. From macros to scripting, to auto game detection. As to why I gave the win tho G300S, because it supports, 3 profiles as compared to G102. With G102, you can setup different game profiles all right, but, for other apps, G300S profiles really help. Most important thing, you can set up, multiple profiles for the same game itself. For example, I set multiple profiles for different game modes within fortnite. For solo matches , I setup the extra buttons as Building walls, for Death matches/Team rumble, i set them as weapon switches. You can play around a lot with mouse modes, and there’s LED glow for each mode, so you never get confused. I absolutely love it.❤️❤️
RGB= G102. With LightSync it’s even better. You can do a lot with RGB,if not with the functionality of the mouse
SENSOR= G102, definitely on paper...But are you gonna notice ? I mostly can’t. The old G300S, with 60 IPS, was awful and the off centre sensor placement made it even worse. The new G300S however comes with a locked down Hero Sensor 150 IPS. The Sensor is much more than just usable in Cs go and fortnite. It never spins out, it never fails to track. I tested it on Cosmic Byte Dwarf Speed mousepad, which is a phenomenal price to performance mousepad. I never once felt that I have downgraded from G102. Now i use my mouse on 1250 DPI. Same for G102. So, high DPI, users might not like, the G300s. But why? I mean even 1500 DpI on both the g102, and G300s feels too fast for accurate aiming. With only 3 extra buttons, even DPI shift button for sniping on G102 feels hard to reach in important moments. Let me tell you another thing. At over 2000 dpi, the performance of mercury sensor in G102 becomes much worse. It works best at 800-1400 dpi range. Main point is G300S absolutely shocked me. Forget the DPI, scale, forget the specs, the technology in it is new.. the sensor is newer than mercury, it works like charm. The LOD has also decreased to 2mm from 3.5mm. Lovely. ☺️
VALUE= Both of them are available at the same exact price in my country, but for me, THE NEW G300s has won my Heart. I will update the durability after few months.
